A beautiful Oklahoma spring day!

Well, the wind sure was "sweeping down the plains" today in Sooner Country. It was the perfect day for a kite. Well, until my little cowboy let go of it and it flew into the neighbors' yard! My mini belle loved having her after school snack on the picnic table by HER peach tree. She only claims it as hers because of the budding pink flowers on it. She seems to think we are going to make all kinds of peach cobblers with the fruit it bears. That sounds great if I can beat the birds to the fruit this year! I finally got my little cowboy to put on a pair of shorts but he would only wear them if he could wear a pair of his cowboy boots. I have a feeling his daddy behaved the same way as a young little cowpoke...

Chalk, Chalk EVERYWHERE!!!

So another idea I got from the Sugar Pie Farmhouse website. A super fun idea to spruce up anything around your house and make it totally useful! Ever hear of chalkboard paint? Well, you have now! You can get it in spray paint form at Hobby Lobby but I found this much easier to use can at Home Depot for about $12. I used a small sponge brush to apply it to a very rusty heart shaped metal cake pan. I just painted on two coats (drying for 24 hours between coats) and BAM...I have a heart shaped chalkboard! Well, I wasn't done there! I bought these two sets of Chalk Ink Markers at Michael's, using my 40% off coupon, of course. These are the kind of markers they use at Starbucks on their chalkboards. These sets were $11.99 each but as I said, I had a 40% off coupon with each purchase. Anyhoo, they write just like chalk and look just like chalk! You can wipe the ink off with a wet paper towel so it is easy to change your message or picture on your new chalkboard. Go now...get off the computer...get this paint and the markers!

Libby's List

I have a strange little girl...she has be BEGGING for chores! So, like any good mother I am giving her some. These aren't really chores. This is more of a list of things to do. I got this great idea for a chore chart from my favorite website www.sugarpiefarmhouse.com and I just made it more "Libby". I printed out the chart and then decorated it with scrapbook stickers. Then I put it in a page protector sleeve and stuck it on a clipboard. She can use a dry erase marker to check off her chores and then it can all be wiped off at the end of the week. I tied some pretty fabric on the clip on the clip board just for good measure! Please note, the picture of Lucy and Ethel at the bottom is Libby's contribution to her chore chart. Love that girl!!!

Hodge Podge

Well, I have been on a Pioneer Woman cooking frenzy since discovering her Oklahoma ways. I have been feeding my family her recipes for about 2 months now and I feel I have neglected my first food love...Paula Deen. I was feeling the need to bake, or rather my Sexyman was in need of some sweets, so I dusted off my "Lady and Son's" cookbook and we got reacquainted. After all, poor Paula hasn't seen my new counter tops yet nor my new "baby"...my TV!!! So, I got out all the yummy goodness to whip up some snicker doodles and life was good. Colt sure does have the life...having a little snack while sitting on the kitchen stool and watching TV as mommy bakes. Well...on to another funny subject, my mini-belle. I sure have created a monster. We've already gone through using the sponge curlers at night to curl her hair and now she has graduated to hot rollers!!! She even wants me to re-roll her hair when she gets home from school. As if that weren't funny enough, she has me roll it and then goes to swing on her swing set with her curlers in her hair!!! Oh...the life of a six year old. I just never expected I'd be waking up early to turn on the rollers so I would have time to fix HER hair for kindergarten!

Krazy Kids!

Sometimes, the kids actually play by themselves without needing my help or interaction or suggestion or demand!!! It is at those times that I see their little personalities come out. My cowboy was watching "Handy Manny" and decided to get out his own tools and "fix" the coffee table. I was looking for my mini-belle one afternoon and found her in her bathroom on the cabinet painting her nails. What a good belle! This two kids keep me on my toes and occupy nearly every minute of my day but when they decide to play on their own, this momma gets some time to visit with Blanche, Dorothy, Rose and Sophia while sipping on an ice cold DP. What is more priceless...my alone time or seeing my babies entertain themselves???

Kitchen Update!!!

So...we've been spending the last year doing some updates around the Triple P. This beautiful 1300 square foot mansion was built WAYYYYYYY back in 1975 & well...although that was the year my Sexyman was born, it wasn't the best year for interior design, if you know what I mean. The kitchen had dark cabinets with dark counter tops to match. We spent the past year painting the cabinet s "Country Dairy" and the walls "Melted Butter". It is only natural that all paint going in the kitchen/dining area be named for food. Well, once that was complete the counter tops & a new sink were in order. We 're still waiting on the sink since we can't seem to agree on one but at least we've got one counter top completed this last week! My Sexyman is one hot handyman! After putting in a beadboard back splash (painted Melted Butter, of course) he got one counter top removed & the new maple butcher block laminate put on. It looks so happy and cheerful! And I must say that Blanche, Dorothy, Rose & Sophia like it, too. Here are some before & afters...

Hey Y'all!

I know...I said I would never do a blog. But, I couldn't resist the cute backgrounds and scrapbook feel a blog has. Plus, I would like my out of town family to see pics of my Okie kiddos and our various (as in many at the same time) home improvement projects. Not to mention the little crafts my mini-belle Libby and I do from time to time. I am having tons of fun with my weekly "must haves" and I thought this would be a fun way to keep track of all of them. So, join me in this journey and let's see if I can actually figure out this blog thing. You know me, it is all I can do to turn on the computer, much less navigate through all this blog business!
